911 RSR - 3.8L DME / 6-Speed (1973)

911 RSR - 3.8L DME / 6-Speed (1973) This vehicle underwent a complete rebuild to RSR spec. We incorporated a G50 Short Bell Housing 6-speed transmission. We machined and performed a blueprinted rebuild right here at Patrick Motorsports. Fitment required extensive chassis modifications due to the longer transmission length. The engine displacement has been increased to 3.8L with the RSR oil pump. Oil cooling has been updated with our special Sebrab front mount oil cooler and the original equipment 930 radiator style front fender cooler. The specs for the racing class allowed us to use PMO Carburetion with a high output ignition system. We also built a new wheel set based on original Fuchs centers to maximize traction. Look for this car on the tracks in Phoenix and Mexico city in late 2007 and upcoming 2008!

We chose Pauter Rods for this 3.8L engine. Pauter Rods Years of hands-on experience, working with rods of all shapes and materials, of all types of racing and racing-related abuse, with design failures (and successes), has resulted in a fairly comprehensive file on just what works - and what doesn't - on the subject of high performance Pauter connecting rods. From this body of knowledge Pauter Rods have selected and incorporated the elements into what it is we think a great rod should be. Right off, Pauter rod looks different, that's obvious, but for some not so obvious and very good reasons.
For starters, the simple Pauter beam design completely eliminates thin and non-uniform cross sections over the total length of the beam. This feature greatly improves resistance to crack-induced metal fatigue. In addition, the non-tapered profile of the Pauter rod beam helps to spread potentially harmful stress over a larger area, dispersing instead of concentrating these destructive loads. The design also efficiently places needed material in critical transitional areas, giving maximum support exactly where it is needed (such as directly under the wrist pin). The streamlined contour also provides subtle benefits in the form of windage reduction. The main beam rib itself continues around the wrist pin boss, perfectly integrating the beam to the pin boss, a small, but important contribution to overall structural unity. Pauter rods are indeed, different by design.

Here we are torqueing the pressure plate!!!! This is very critical, if the pressure plate is not torqued properly it can cause problems later as the bolts get stressed if to tight they can brake and if they are no tight enough they can work loose. Either one is devastating as there is no room for the broken part to fall out and the damage they will do to the transmission case will shock you.   Also ALWAYS use new bolts for the flywheel and pressure plate every time it is removed.

The united hub under-drives the alternator, reducing drag and allows the engine’s air cooling impeller to operate at the same speed for increased engine efficiency. Ideal use for performance engines running higher RPM ranges. The original equipment fan hub features a wearable bearing allowing the alternator and fan operate at independent speeds. The increased alternator speed is intended to produce additional current for electronic accessories. Higher alternator output may assist street models with additional electronic accessories. Application Notes:
The anti bump steer kit works by correcting the severe angle of the tie rod end after lowering of these cars. If the anti bump kit is not installed and the car is lowered, upon compression the tie rods can pull the steering out of alignment which is called "bump steer". The racing struts also feature and update to correct this by raising the spindle position. Also most 911s benefit from replacing the tie rods with the turbo edition as well which is a direct replacement kit. So in short, if you plan to lower your car, this would be a kit for you.
