Frequently Asked Questions
|LIGHTWEIGHT FLYWHEEL & CLUTCH SYSTEMS - Engine stalling issues with Motronic DME||Porsche 911, 964 & 993 DME models equipped with the earlier Motronic control units can experience engine stalling issues on cars equipped with a lighter mass flywheel & clutch systems.
High Performance and racing applications for MY 1990-1995 using Motronic DME with E-prom chips, due to engine idle control variances, adjustment is advised. Motronic chip programming is achieved by replacing the E-Prom chip with one that is modified. This involves simply unplugging and re-plugging a socket-ed chip. In addition to adjustment of proper idle control, the chips programming can be matched to the engine's performance aspiration and modifications.
PATRICK MS USA offers specially calibrated chips to match the cars equipment. In-house service options are available to suit the application. Please contact us for professional advise.
|G50 TRANSMISSION RELEASE FORK UPDATE - Scraping noise when operating clutch||1987 G50 Transmission - Scraping noise when operating the clutch or vibration in the cluth pedal could be caused by the release fork back side making contat with the release bearing. The back of the release fork is machined from production date: January 21, 1987. Transmission number 74 H 048 34|
|BILLET SHIFT FORKS||The billet type shift forks are CNC machined from a single piece of material with exacting tolerances and are much stronger as a result. Our billet shift forks simply don’t break like the original casted types.|
|COOL SHIRT SYSTEMS||Cool Shirt® contains more than 45 feet of medical grade capillary tubing securely stitched on the front and back of the shirt. The Resposable Poncho is made from material containing a network of channels that the cooled water flows through. They are both connected to a compact cooling unit via insulated hose with quick, dry disconnects. The cooling unit contains ice, water and an internal pump that supplies cool water to the Cool Shirt® as it covers up to 40% of the body.|

|CENTERFORCE CLUTCHES||Centerforce Clutches use patented technologies to improve clutch system performance. We recommend the Centerforce Clutch option as they offer consistent and higher clamp load with increased overall strength and longevity. If Centerforce offers a replacement package, their testing has determined improvements can be made with the original parts. Centerforce clutches are optimized or extreme performance and reliability over that of the original parts.|
|DMF | Dual Mass Flywheel||A flywheel mass divided into a primary and secondary mass with a torsional vibration dampening system located between the two masses.
DMFs are calibrated to handle the engine’s maximum torque reliably to reduce speed fluctuations transmitted to the gearbox.
|ROTATIONAL BALANCING | Equipment & Services||PATRICK MOTORSPORTS USA utilizes modern computerized rotational balancing equipment for engine, gearbox and drive components.
PATRICK MS billet steel production flywheels include certified high resolution balancing. With clutch cover and ring gear combined, the assembly, balancing and indexing are completed with no added cost!
WHY? Proper balancing can prevent vibration, heat build-up, and prolong bearing life. High-RPM applications require critical tolerances to prevent failures at inopportune moments. Properly balanced components in racing applications can be critical when it comes to whether one will stand on the podium or not!
There are countless applications in automotive balancing - especially when racing is taking place. Crank balancing is the most often thought of application, but any rotating part, such as flywheels, clutches, pulleys, camshafts, brake rotors, fans, etc. can benefit from proper balancing.

|FUEL SAFETY CELLS||"Using a safety fuel cell in a racing vehicle is no less important than using a helmet or wearing a seat belt. The Fuel Cell is an essential part of making you fast and keeping you safe during competition. A Fuel Safe fuel cell provides its user with a much higher level of performance by keeping the fuel from moving around in the tank and by making sure that every last possible drop of fuel is used. In the event of a shunt or accident, the fuel cell is designed to retain all the fuel even if it’s deformed, rolled over, or directly impacted." FUEL SAFE
